NEW YORK, June 27, 2005—Assurant, Inc. ("Assurant") (NYSE: AIZ), a premier provider of specialty insurance and insurance-related products and services, has promoted Raj B. Dave, 30, to Vice President and Assistant General Counsel.

Formerly Assistant Vice President and Corporate Counsel, Mr. Dave was instrumental in the execution of Assurant's initial public offering in 2004. He currently plays a key role in SEC reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance and provides legal guidance to Assurant's senior management and board of directors on a wide range of legal topics. In early 2005, he oversaw the preparation of Assurant's proxy statement. Mr. Dave also serves as an Assistant Secretary of Assurant.

Mr. Dave joined Assurant in 2001 as Assistant Counsel. Prior to joining the company, he was an Associate at Chadbourne & Parke, LLP in New York City where his practice areas included mergers and acquisitions and project finance.

A resident of Bridgewater, N.J., Mr. Dave is a graduate of Brown University where he received a Ford Foundation Grant for Research in Asian American Studies. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown Law where he was awarded a Dean's Certificate for Leadership and Public Service. While in law school, he served as a co-chairman of the Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center, a non-profit group founded to provide legal assistance and access to social services to Asian immigrants.

Mr. Dave is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel.
