Company donates portion of jewelry protection plans to support children’s charities
Assurant Solutions’ customers who buy a jewelry care plan can safeguard and maintain valuable jewelry beyond the manufacturer’s warranty and help protect the lives of thousands of children who have suffered illness, abuse or neglect.
Assurant Solutions partners with Jewelers for Children (JFC), a charitable organization that supports causes such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, Make-A-Wish America®, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and the National CASA Association. Jewelers for Children also provides support to Make-A-Wish® International and the Santa-America Fund. Each time an Assurant Solutions customer purchases a jewelry care plan from Ben Bridge Jeweler, Fred Meyer Jewelers and Tourneau, a portion of the sale goes to Jewelers for Children.

“We are in the business of protecting the things that matter most for consumers, and helping to protect our communities’ children aligns with our mission,” said Jeff Unterreiner, senior vice president - Extended Protection Solutions at Assurant Solutions. “We take our responsibility to the communities we serve to heart, and that means not only protecting the items customers buy, but also helping to improve the lives of others.”
During 2013, the Assurant Solutions team, along with charitable support from the Assurant Foundation, successfully raised nearly $38,000 for JFC, and it has renewed its commitment for this year.
David Rocha, Executive Director of Jewelers for Children said, “JFC is fortunate to have supporters like Assurant Solutions who are providing ongoing support and helping to raise the visibility of the organization to companies in the jewelry industry.”
Since its inception in 1999, Jewelers for Children has donated more than $45 million, enough to:
- Grant wishes to 13,425 children in the U.S. and in India
- Help more than 8,500 children in foster care
- Provide support to 120,000 women at clinics in developing countries
- Establish a bone marrow transplant unit, a chair in Genes and Genetic therapy and a stem cell transplant laboratory
“It is a privilege to partner with Jewelry for Children and to be able to contribute to the fine work they do in making life better for children,” Unterreiner said. “We look forward to helping to improve the quality of life for many more children this year.”
