Assurant Preneed products are primarily distributed to funeral homes through two separate channels – an independent channel and the company’s American Memorial Life Insurance Company channel which has an established relationship with SCI, a nationally affiliated funeral and cemetery company.

Products

Assurant Preneed offers individual preneed life insurance and annuities through funeral homes and independent agents. Policyowners have the choice of making their policy payments as a single lump-sum payment or choosing to make payments over three, five, seven or 10 years.

Assurant Preneed is the market leader in the United States in pre-funded funeral insurance based on the face amount of new policies sold. Through its American Memorial Life channel, Assurant Preneed provides the insurance products and support services for SCI, the largest funeral provider in North America based on total revenues. As of September 30, 2004, SCI operated over 1,200 funeral service locations and over 400 cemeteries in North America. The company's independent channel is comprised of 3,000 funeral firms in the U.S. and Canada.
